Warm-Up
An abstract art shows that appreciating art is not just about the physical art itself, but also answering what it makes us feel. There might be numerous interpretations. People may see or sense different things. For example: one might see waves, but others might see hands; one might see clouds, but others might see trees – it can be very contrasting at times. This, again, shows that human imagination and creativity have no definite limits. Therefore, art is an expression which gives us the chance to feel and experience.
7.1 - Developing a Draft
Journal entry:
Illusion A foreshadow
Of misery and luck
Covered in ambiguity
As we fade
In a dream state –
Deep within our sleep
Notes: This short draft can be developed more. Next lines could be about its metaphor, that the dreams are hopes, and that it’s sort of like an unreachable hope that one would only ponder and not achieve. Then, I’m thinking of having an image of dreaming about having to climb a rope from a cliff, only finding out that there are more cliffs to climb.
7.2 - Developing a Draft 2.0
Evocative words in journal: nostalgia, montage of best memories
Nostalgia is unanimously dangerous. It is a montage of our best memories, but it is also a montage of our worst memories. Sometimes people get stuck in their past, and this is the tricky part, that it is indefinite how the past can really determine the future. Therefore, nostalgia is beautiful and cunning in the same time as it is plain honesty.
It’s like the laughter of a lover. It’s like the smile of a close friend. It’s like the joy of the born of the first child. It’s like the melody of a song. It’s like the harmony of an orchestra. It’s like those sometimes.
7.4 - Outlining: Random Cards
Cards:
Sunflower
Watery soil
Bright sunny day
Beautiful rainbow
Blue sky
In a bright sunny day, the sunflower sat still on the watery soil. It was full of minerals, and it smiles as it receives abundant light from the sun. Cooking food for itself, the rainbow emerges from the blue sky. They both understand that they are having a good day.
7.5 - Quilting
Characteristics: Monday person, coffee; brave, resilient; singer, vlogger; make-up; fries
Ideas:
A morning coffee to survive Mondays
Singing in the bathroom
A resilient daily vlogger who teaches how to overcome daily life struggles
Midnight burger and fries after going to clubs and drinking
Make-up ready before make-out
7.7 - Research: How to Make Puffer Fish Sushi
Puffer fish is poisonous. Japanese chefs must have a license to prepare blowfish in Japan. It can take at least twenty minutes for the toxin to kill someone. People only eat the torafugu, the tiger puffer, because it has less toxic blood.
It is complicated and dangerous to process fugu. First, the chefs will remove the skin by cutting around the mouth and, from there, pull the skin off. Then, they will wash off the jelly – coating the fish with salt. Removing the eyes is the next step. After that, the chefs gut the fish. They need to be precise with their knife because the ovaries and liver contains most of the poison. Lastly, fillet the fish for sashimi, cutting up against the bone. Now, it’s ready to be served.
7.8 - Perspective
In this 3-star sushi Michelin restaurant, Chef Adam is fearless for cooking the fugu (pufferfish) nigiri. He has had twenty years of experience in being a cook all over the world. Meanwhile, there’s the intern, Eve, who is afraid when she was assigned to cut the carrots. She had a trauma after she punctured her thumb when she cut an avocado years ago. What a difference.
7.9 - Developing an Idea
Central idea: A resilient daily vlogger who teaches how to overcome daily life struggles
Key word: Vlogger
Image: Going anywhere with a camera and microphone attached to it; Speaking to “self” in public places; Showing happiness and joy in front of the camera
Dialogue: “Hi, guys! It’s me again. I’m now in ... doing ... So, let's go!”
