Warm-Up

Destroyed buildings... debris everywhere, what’s left? The fire had burned the buildings of the biggest mall in Rwanda. All had changed into black and smokey. Although no one was hurt, it still smells like something was burnt, that there had been rot. It feels bitter, sour, though it was intangible. The wood panels of the store combusted, it became as soft as a paper. People had cried, begged as their business was lost in an instant. Funnily enough, the later rain was the one that had put the fire out. No one could do anything except to wait for the rain. Sad. Nothing’s left.

5.2 - Setting as the World

Hmm, interesting chair... Shaped to perfectly provide comfort, it has a firm yet smooth surface of wood. Sitting on it makes me feel so energetic to be productive doing my works. The backrest has put me to a state of seriousness, giving me a sense of belonging. Eventually, I feel the tendency to remain at rest on this chair. Alas, inertia.

5.3 - Get Me Out of Here

GET ME OUT OF HERE!

I DON’T BELONG HERE!

That was carved on the wall of a prison cell from one of the Nazi’s concentration camps here in Auschwitz.

From the scratch marks, we know these words were carved using human nails. It seems like they had already become crazy. I mean, crazy? It doesn’t even define this level of insanity. They’re crazy crazy. Like, damn.

I can’t help but to wander... it’s really sad to think that some of the victims in this camp weren’t Jew. Who the fuck were they to select and kill these people? Sick bastards.

As I was feeling nauseous, one of my best soldier, Günter, came and asked, “Are you okay,

Hauptsturmfuhrer Wafner?

“Yes. Shouldn’t you continue patrolling, Günter? Mind your own damn business.”

“I’m sorry, Hauptsturmfuhrer Wafner,” Alongside with the salute, he chanted, “Ruhm und lang lebe der Nazi!” And then he goes.

As soon as that, I vomited.

5.4 - Setting as Camera

The moon began to shine above the plain grass field, leaving the girl to admire. Overwhelmed, she just stayed there in awe. Her eyes started to glisten.

5.7 - Setting as Mood and Symbol

such a destiny,

for it rains hard

in this city,

and in this heart

it’s all just a scene,

again, and again, repeating

life, like it has always been,

has no particular meaning

5.8 - Setting as Action

pale yellow walls,

stained sofa cushions,

dusty frames of family photos,

along with your presence

swimming through my past feelings,

thinking of the room where it started,

how we survived the guilt

and resisted to go back in action
